The Indian market recovered from the collapse of yesterday and after a choppy session, closed with good gains. Sectors like oil & gas, pharma and banking saw some buying while there was weakness in auto and realty. Sensex shut shop at 16519, up 111 points and Nifty at 4947, up 27 points from the previous close. CNX Midcap index was up 0.1% and BSE Smallcap index was down 0.6%. The market breadth was negative with advances at 486 against declines of 785 on the NSE.
